MAUI  GAZEBO
This photograph was taken on a very early morning, while my family opted not to
drive at the crack of dawn to see the sunrise at Haleakala. Actually it was not until I
realized the Maui Botanical Gardens did not open until 9 AM, I took the turn for
the volcano to kill time--- It was freezing, beautiful and once is enough.
The gardens were an amazing surprise. I had planned on just seeing floral, but was
delighted to find their Koi Pond (which I painted the Maui Koi) and then I proceed
to spend about 3 hours and 400 photos later, taking in the birds, trees and floral
views.  I have taken several photos of Gazebos (because they are a favorite subject
of mine) over the years, but this one with the way the sun was hitting it that morning
with the blue hydrangeas in bloom was too good to pass up.
Again this is my third painting with "high content" and detail. I have one more from
Lake Como, Italy that I plan to paint and then I will give myself a break and go back
to high contrast, clean simple subject and lines (mostly likely the calla lilies I
photographed in Italy).
