I took this photography in Mazatlan, Mexico on Saturday morning and began painting it, in Spokane, on Wednesday. Everyone kept asking
me while I was painting it “when were you there?” which how it got the name “Last Weekend”.
Previously while we were in Maui I noticed other watercolorist’s work especially the floral paintings that “flowed out of the frame” and
decided to try this style by extending the waves and branches of the palm tree. It was a fast and very fun painting with limited colors. It was
the reflection of the chairs in the water that truly caught my eye at the time and I hope to capture it in this painting. The best part is the great
memory it reflects of a special week with wonderful friends. Hope it sparks a similar memory for you.
