This painting is from a photo shoot I did of Napa Valley one very early and cold morning in February of 2009 while visiting our daughter. My primary
purpose was to capture a photograph for Tana Rekofke, owner of Vintages @ 611 in Spokane to use for her outdoor seating area. If you go to my
website and click on the Napa photos you can view a few of the gems from Napa that day. I had not planned on painting this piece as it is so detailed in
content. However, after completing the Manito Japanese Gardens painting, utilizing some new techniques I decided to paint this one. I loved the colors,
movement, bare vines and trees. This is actually someone’s private home that I mistook for a public winery. After photographing it for a half hour the
grounds keeper approached me and explained it was private property, but I could continue to take photos, since I had already been there quite awhile.
I hope this painting evokes peaceful and very cozy emotions. It does look a bit fanciful or story bookish in content, but it really does exist!
